Hot-dip galvanised fasteners, screws and nails (as well as terrace screws) can be used in other structures. It is important to note that the service life of hot-dip galvanised
metal may be shorter than that of pressure-treated wood.
It is of utmost importance that the material is the same for all fasteners, screws and nails that are used together.
Zinc-coated and stainless products must not make contact. Hot-dip galvanised
products must be at least G185 rated in accordance with ASTM A123 and A153
(a minimum zinc layer thickness of 90 micrometres).
Any products with weaker zinc layers must not be used.
